Steps to getting your Medical Exam:
2. Print out and bring with you a copy of the online form. The .pdf format will have the confirmation number printed on it.
3. If you use glasses for near or far vision, bring them with you. Please. If you have concerns that you might not pass the vision requirements, see your eye care practitioner first. Don’t have an eye care practitioner? Click here for my recommendations.
4. Make an appointment for your medical by calling The Beverly Flight Center, 978-774-7755. They handle my scheduling. (On-line scheduling is coming soon)
5. Please remember to bring $90.00 cash or check with you, as I do not accept credit or debit cards. I also do not accept any form of health insurance, as health insurers in general will not pay for administrative medical exams, such as FAA medical exams. I will cheerfully provide you with a receipt which you may use to obtain reimbursement from your employer or other sources.
6. Applicants often ask if their answers are “permanent” once they record them on the MedXpress form. The answer is that they are recorded on the virtual form, but we can change them in my office if necessary after discussion. If you have any questions or doubts, please use one of the following resources: AOPA/medical, FAA/medical, or, if you’re unable to find the answer on either of those websites, you can e-mail me your question in advance of your appointment date.
7. If you think that you may need a longer appointment because of a complicated medical issue or past special issuance, please let me know in advance!
8. If you have any correspondence from the FAA, e.g. a “special issuance” letter, please, please, remember to bring it with you. I do not have ready access to them. Some of these special issuance letters allow me to issue your medical here in the office, but I can’t do that unless you bring me the letter that allows me to do so.
9. If you have a “SODA” (Statement of Demonstrated Ability) from the FAA, You MUST have it with you for me to issue your medical certificate.
